I am an amateur SEO (Search Engine Optimizer) and I have been dabbling in this stuff for some months now. I guess sometimes, in some respects, it is better to be an amateur that an pro. Did that make you laugh? Are you asking why? Well, because the professional already knows everything or nearly everything, for him, excitement is gone from the field and it is just grunt work. For an amateur SEO, life is perpetual discovery of new and exciting stuff. True, I have a site to promote for practical reasons, but I also love it because it is so interesting. For example, link building is a weakness of mine, good genuine “white hat” links are pretty tough to find.
