Commentary On “Lawmakers’ Use of Travel Stipends Probed”
I travel and vacation with my job on occasion, and I make my own travel arrangement. I pay with my own credit card and then keep receipts which I file with my business office for reimbursement. There’s none of this requesting extra money for per diems and such. My expenses are my expenses. I cannot get reimbursements for gifts. It’s time for someone to explain to me exactly why members of Congress do not get held to the same standard, aside from their ability to exempt themselves from such trivialities.
This would help to rectify these problems and save the taxpayers a boatload of money that could be applied to the deficit or debt reduction. It may not be a huge chunk toward that but anything is better than nothing. Besides we never gave the government the go ahead to keep the change.
